For lovers of the freedom of outdoor life, traveling through the southern limits of the Amboró National Park is like attending an art gallery where Mother Nature exhibits her major works of form and color. Walking from two to five days from the Old Cochabamba Highway, we make our first stop in Bermejo, a little town at the foot of an imposing arc of reddish sandstone, carved over time in the Volcanic Mountain Range. The view leaves one speechless, with precipitous vertical cuts in the core of the hills that emerge amid the clouds and jungle. From one group of orchids to another of bromeliads, your view falls 700 meters into the ravines below where you can imagine the waterfalls flowing. On recommendation, visit "Laguna Volcanes" or "Volcanic Lake" to enjoy the calm that brings inner quiet while listening to the aquatic birds. The most energetic travelers can ford the Colorado River above and hike to the community of Volcanes. There we can count on having all we need to live for several days in the capable hands of local guides, in touch with nature in the park. Later, you will stay in the cozy climate of Samaipata.

Called in Spanish the Doorway of the Valleys, this town offers the widest variety of options in services and tourism infrastructure in. Close to Samaipata, the major attractions are El Fuerte (The Fort) and The Arborescent Fern Forest that grows beneath the mountain cloud forests extending throughout the park all the way to what is known as person name "La Siberia". Lovers at the hand of an interpretive nature guide will discover the magic of pathways where mosses and bromeliads reach their pinnacle of glory, of observing a rainbow of multicolored birds and of medicinal plant use. The mysterious ruins of El Fuerte will transport us to another time and other cultures that have long since disappeared. What’s more, toward the valleys of Comarapa we will find some of the most fascinating bird and plant life unique to our planet: like varieties of cactus and orchid among which are found macaws and endemic thrush; or insect eating plants and parasites that guard caves holding ancient rock paintings.
